Build

Water features

The sound of moving water changes how a landscape feels. We design, build, and maintain natural stone waterfalls and low-maintenance pondless fountains, built with the pumps and plumbing hidden so the water reads as part of the land, not an add-on.

What we build

Waterfalls and pondless fountains

Two kinds of water feature suit most metro Atlanta properties, one for the full look and sound of a pond, one for the sound with almost none of the upkeep.

  • Waterfalls and streams

Stacked natural-stone waterfalls that spill into a planted pond, or a stream that winds through the landscape. Built around a hidden pump and liner and edged in real rock and planting, so the water looks like it has always belonged there rather than sitting on top of the yard.

  • Pondless fountains

A bubbling urn, a drilled basalt column, or a spillway where the water disappears into a hidden reservoir of stone. You get the sound and movement of water with no open pond to keep, less maintenance, and nothing for children or wildlife to fall into, which makes it a favorite for front yards and commercial entrances.

How it works

Design, build, and maintain

A water feature is designed into the landscape, built so the machinery disappears, and cared for through the seasons.

  1. Design

We plan the feature to suit the spot: its scale, the sound you want, where it is seen and heard from, and how it ties into the beds, stone, and lighting around it. A water feature works best when it is designed into the landscape, not dropped into it.

  2. Construction

The excavation, the liner or basin, the pump and plumbing, and the stonework, all built so the mechanical parts are hidden and the water reads as natural. This is the craft that separates a feature that looks built-in from one that looks bolted-on.

  3. Maintenance

Moving water needs seasonal care to stay clear and healthy: cleaning, checking and servicing the pump, and winter service. We can keep your feature running and looking its best as part of a maintenance program.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a pondless feature, and why choose one?

A pondless feature, a bubbling fountain, urn, or spillway, sends its water down into a hidden basin of stone instead of into an open pond. You keep the sound and movement of water with much less maintenance and no standing water, which is why many families with young children, and many commercial properties, prefer them.

How much maintenance does a water feature need?

Any moving water needs some seasonal care to stay clear: keeping debris out, cleaning the basin, checking the pump, and servicing it for winter. A pondless feature needs less than a full pond. We can fold that care into a maintenance program so the feature is looked after without you having to think about it.

Can a feature be added to an existing landscape?

Yes. We can design a waterfall or fountain into an established yard, tying it into the existing beds, stone, and grade so it looks like it was always part of the plan. We will walk the property to find the spot where it will be seen and heard best.

Can the feature be lit for the evening?

Yes. Landscape lighting on a waterfall or fountain carries it into the evening and doubles the hours you enjoy it. We can design the lighting and the water feature together.

Bring water into your landscape.

Tell us where you would like to see and hear water and we will walk the site, talk through waterfalls and pondless options, and put together an estimate with no obligation.
